For 15 years the HiRISE camera (aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter) has been taking photos of the Martian surface.
It takes extremely high resolution images, giving scientists the ability to distinguish objects as small as 3-feet. Hundreds of scientific papers have been written using data from HiRISE.
Not only do these images provide valuable data, they’re also gorgeous.
